As part of Safely project, funded by EIT Urban Mobility under the Targeted Project call, an international consortium of partners gathered in Konya, Türkiye for a two-day study visit focused on enhancing road safety through data-driven insights and collaborative innovation.
The event was hosted by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, bringing together representatives from Parabol, the Ministry of Traffic of Sarajevo Canton (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and academic lead Technische Universität Berlin, with additional contribution from the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP).
Building Knowledge, Strengthening Connections

The study visit began with institutional presentations by the project partners, highlighting their local efforts to improve traffic safety and mobility. Each partner shared insights into the challenges and solutions being explored in their respective contexts, fostering mutual understanding and stronger collaboration.
Participants then took part in a field trip across Konya, led by the local municipality team, to observe traffic safety strategies in real-world settings. This on-the-ground experience allowed the consortium to explore how data, infrastructure, and local governance intersect in practice.
Hands-On Learning and Expert Insights

A key component of the visit was the interactive training and analysis session on the Safely platform, where participants explored the platform’s capabilities for traffic safety assessment and urban mobility planning. This practical session strengthened the partners’ ability to apply project tools in their local contexts and support evidence-based decision-making.
The agenda also featured a special guest presentation by iRAP, where a representative introduced their Horizon Europe project and shared global insights on road safety innovation. The talk provided valuable context on how Safely’s goals align with broader European and international initiatives.
A Step Forward in Safer Urban Mobility

This study visit marked a significant milestone in the Safely project’s progress, offering a platform for knowledge exchange, skill-building, and stronger ties between international stakeholders. By bridging research, technology, and policy, the Safely consortium continues to work toward creating safer and more inclusive urban spaces.
The consortium extends its gratitude to Konya Metropolitan Municipality for their warm hospitality and leadership, to all participating partners for their active contributions, and to EIT Urban Mobility for supporting this transformative initiative.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our mission to make mobility smarter, safer, and more sustainable across Europe and beyond.
